Richard’s Ride
On October 15th, Richard and Naomi will be off to Israel for the 6th time, where Richard will again volunteer to provide dental treatment on children in need at the DVI (Dental Volunteers in Israel) clinic in Jerusalem. The clinic is manned by a dedicated staff of dental assistants and a clinic director who work with volunteer dentists from over 15 countries. Richard has found the clinic experience rewarding in many ways – providing children in pain with necessary dental care, watching the kids walk out with smiles on their faces, seeing the gratification and appreciation from the children and their family, and doing something for Israel while experiencing Israel, especially Jerusalem.
Being cycling enthusiasts and because Israel is one of the best countries to cycle in, Richard and Naomi are bringing their road bikes with them and will act as unofficial guides for another cycling couple who have never been to Israel. The group will travel to various areas from Tel Aviv where they will ride along the Mediterranean near Haifa and the Carmel, they will circle the Sea of Galilea, climb to areas such as Sfat, Mount Tibor and through the Hula Valley into the Golan. In all, they hope to cover over 400 km.
Richard and Naomi are dedicating their ride to the DVI clinic in the hope of raising much needed funds for the daily operation of the clinic. Please check out the web site for the DVI clinic at www.dental-dvi.org.il for further information.
